Ridley Scott has Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe taking on terrorists in the Middle East in this fictitious CIA thriller. Is it bad? No. Is it great? Not particularly.
‘Body of Lies’ might just be the most consistent film I’ve ever seen. I felt exactly the same throughout the whole runtime - never bored but never totally enamoured. Between the talent of the of the cast and the momentum of the plot, there was always enough quality to maintain my interest but never enough to beg my emotional investment. Perhaps it’s also the most middling film I’ve ever seen too?
I must say that my suspicions of Russell Crowe’s acting abilities being of a somewhat overrated nature are slowly being proven. However, that doesn’t mean to say his performance in this movie was insufficient or anything close to it. As for DiCaprio, who doesn’t love some DiCaprio?
Films such as this are, I find, the most difficult ones to discuss, as I simply lack both positive and negative passion for any matters that can be discussed. For me, ‘Body of Lies’ definitely falls within the realm of mediocrity, but it does so on the better side rather than the poorer 😐
In my opinion, ‘Body of Lies’ is…
𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞
I give the movie…
