Thank god for James Gunn, this man doesn’t make something he doesn’t understand. This is what we get when actual fans make movies/shows. Way to bring such a small DC character into popularity. From making him a funny piece of shit on The Suicide Squad to making him a person we can actually like on Peacemaker. This show is easily one of the greatest things to come out of DC so far. I’m so happy it’s already been picked up for a second season. John Cena is truly fantastic here in ways I never thought we’d see. He takes this character to really great places. Danielle Brooks is easily one of the best characters on the show, her character is just so easy to like. Freddie Stroma does a great job turning a semi serious DC character into their version of Deadpool, a bumbling bafoon given swords and guns, and lots and lots of jokes. Jennifer Holland is back as Harcourt giving her a lot more depth. Steve Agee also returns as Economos making him a shocking badass with lots of complexity. Robert Patrick plays a truly horrible character incredibly well. Chukwudi Iwuji deserves an Emmy for this role. I can’t wait to see how he fares in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. Annie Chang and Lochlyn Munro are great side characters that I wish we had seen just a little bit more. This was a fantastic eight episode season. Nothing feels like the “filler” that people love to hate and delivers on the best character moments I’ve seen in a long time. This team really comes to feel like a family as they teach each other a lot of new things. Gunn slips in some great messages and again makes villains (not the racists) with redeemable qualities and a moral right to stand on. HBO max has a serious hit with this series and I’m beyond excited to see what the future holds for it. I’m giving it full 10/10. Every part of it just seems so well thought out and well acted. Love hearing more of Gunn’s music taste. The Suicide Squad and this are now the DC gold standard, hope they can keep it going. Stop micro managing your directors Warner Bros, your projects shine when you don’t. -Tyler.
