(rating and review)

9/10

🍿This film is a fantastic end to the trilogy. The majority of the much loved characters get their happy ending, with much hope for their newfound future of peace and prosperity, after a gruelling war against Sauron and his forces.

🍿There are so many powerful scenes in this film with some of my favourites being: the lighting of the beacons of Gondor, Eowyns battle against the Witch King, the re-forging of Narsil and the reunion of the fellowship amongst many other amazing scenes.

🍿The soundtrack by Howard Shore also adds to the emphasis of the story, beautifully heightening the going-ons of each scene.

🍿The costumes and sfx makeup all add to the realistic feel of the film, with very little CGI being used. In short it's all down to traditional acting and filmmaking, which makes the story feel so natural to watch, even though it's surreal fantasy.

🍿This film does differ very slightly from the book which is why I am marking it at 9, but regardless it is a brilliant film, with natural acting and filming techniques, a gorgeous soundtrack and cinematography and a satisfying bittersweet ending to one of the best trilogies to have graced our screens.
